Desining From Zero To Live @ViBeat
Founding UX Designer | UI/UX Design, Mobile + Desktop Interface Design
Context:
As the Founding UX Designer at ViBeat, I worked in a fast-paced startup environment as the sole designer collaborating with the business and development teams to design the platform from Zero to Going live. With market research completed before I joined, my focus was on defining the design system, and translating stakeholder goals into accessible UX flows.
ViBeat is a registered company in Morocco that provides a platform connecting club-goers and event hosts, enhancing event discovery and ticketing for nightlife and festival experiences.
Role
Lead UX Designer, Occasionally Product Manager
Timeline
Jan 2023 - Oct 2024
(22 Months)
Task
Design wireframe & interactive prototypes; Collaborate with Co-founders & devs
Impact
Drove 10,000+ ticket sales and 40+ B2B partnerships; Grew active user base to 5,000+
The following demos were captured in Chrome from real working devices using the ViBeat platform.
Vibeat for Consumers
Designed an intuitive user flow for event-goers by streamlining event discovery, exploration, and ticket purchasing into a smooth and engaging experience.
Vibeat for Business
Crafted the organizer dashboard, simplifying event creation flow into four steps and transformed complex success metrics into easy-to-understand visual reports.
Below is a simplified overview of the overall design timeline. In reality, the process included much more divergences and parallel tracks, as some features required additional time and dedicated meetings for implementation discussions, while others were designed more quickly due to their lower complexity.
Designing two interfaces required thorough understandings of each user group. Building on the co-founders’ preliminary market research, which identified 1) Moroccan club owners’ need for an accessible ticketing and revenue management platform, and 2) club-goers’ need for a simple way to purchase tickets, I conducted further competitor research for both groups to uncover user habits and guide my design decisions.
Through close collaboration with developers, I gained first-hand insight into how design can support development. In this instance, by actively listening to developer feedback, I learned the importance of maintaining consistent design across platforms (mobile and desktop) to ensure a smooth development process.
Resizable Component
Constraints allowed elements to adapt automatically to different frame sizes. This made responsive design easier and gave developers clear layout rules.
Synced Edits Using Instances
Changes made to the main component are instantly reflected across all instances, speeding up my design process and keeping designs across the board consistent.
While developing the MVP, we faced a decision: implement my original payment page design or integrate an existing API to handle transactions. Here’s why we ultimately chose the API.
As multiple points in the consumer user flow required back-and-forth communication between the user and ViBeat, such as confirming a security code during registration or sending upcoming event reminders, I created a full set of email design templates to cover a range of use cases.
UX case study: ViBeat ticketing platform. Designed end-to-end user experience for both consumer and business sides, covering mobile and desktop platforms. Worked as the sole UX designer in a fast-paced startup, collaborating with developers and co-founders. Led design from 0 to 1, including wireframes, low-fi and high-fi prototypes, and developer handoff. Practiced proactive problem-solving by identifying missing features and aligning design with stakeholder goals. Navigated tradeoffs between aesthetics, usability, and development constraints. Improved workflow using Figma components, constraints, and responsive design. Prioritized communication across teams to resolve inconsistencies and maintain design-developer alignment. Reflected on areas for growth, including more direct user interaction and increased iteration based on user feedback. Demonstrated strong product thinking, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
